My Smart Apartment Design Journey
I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to design an apartment in a one of the first sustainable residential building in Marmaris, Turkey. I had 6 weeks to finish the project and stay in the budget and during the PANDEMIC. I was so excited working on this smart and self sustaining building apartment which uses rain water and produces it's own electricity. From floor heating , cooling to water temperature and most of the appliances can be controlled through phone.
As I always try my best to protect environment, I had to be very careful with practicing environmentally friendly interior design procedures. After carefully determining the owners needs started drawing custom cabinets and furniture, including a kitchen island and ordered to be build out of site to control waste. Used VOC paint and purchased locally made furniture to reduce carbon print.
Covered the front porch with high glazed windows to create a 4 season sunroom with sunscreen blinds to keep the sun out in the summer and keeping the heat in during winter times.
Now the project is finished in 6 weeks and in budget. So it was very exciting, tiring, but very rewarding design experience!
